The Shepherd/Kirby area has slowly been rebuilding a nightlife scene, but the West Alabama Ice House has retained an enthused following since 1927. Reminiscent of a Texas backyard get together, the open airy ice house is well known for its friendly patrons, cold beer, live music, and charming Southern atmosphere. Come winter, the ice house is sheathed in plastic and warming lamps where patrons can enjoy jukebox tunes and games of pool or horseshoes. Summer in the ice house brings free hotdogs on Fridays and family friendly crawfish boils. Looks like it's 83 years and counting, as this Houston ice house and bar will not dissapoint.
